One town south of Santa Cruz, Capitola by the Sea is a charming spot. We stopped by in the morning for some driftwood gathering, some coffee and some Ocean time.
The sea wall is faced with these tiles, there were maybe 100's of them, and here were a few that captured me in their artfulness.
I don't know the history, behind them, but the last tile was this one...
I'm teaching today and tomorrow, then driving home on Monday.
I LOVE Capitola! Have you ever gone to their Begonia Festival? They have real floats (boats covered with flowers) that they float down the Capitola River. If you're lucky, you can get riverside seats at the Shadowbrook restaurant for the water parade.
ReplyDeleteMakes me want to go visit again!
I lived in the Bay Area for 18 yrs and Capitola was a great place. Forget the name of the bar, but a friend and I used to drink frozen strawberry dacquiris while wachting the boys in their speedos playing volley ball...
ReplyDeleteHi Joann and MJ,
ReplyDeleteYes I know the begonia festival. My company used to have a float and one year I made a mermaids costume. I loved that parade.
MJ, I bet it was Margarita's still a staple in downtown Capitola!
