Seed Bead Overload

Could that be true? It appears I have too many seed beads.....well in reality I have too many old tubes, bought at retail, may or may not be labeled with the color number, may or may not be repeatable. This all means that as long as I design for repeatability, they are hard for me to use. And they are taking up a lot of space, so, if you like seed beads

Leave me a comment on this post by midnight tonight. Tell me your favorite colors (no guarantees, but if you are a lime green girl let me know, or if you prefer matte metallics, or high contrast, or analogous color ways) and I'll try my best. I will randomly pick one winner and mail you off a small flat rate priority box of seed beads.

I have way more then one box, so expect to see this giveaway repeated often in the next few weeks. I'm motivated to open up some space!

Yesterday we moved all but the perimeter furniture and steam cleaned the carpet. Today a trip to the local fixture store for some more slat wall fixtures so I can file all the new seed beads that don't yet have room on the wall. I have begun a quest for the perfect seating arrangement, but against my usually impulsive nature I've decided to make do with the current table and chairs and take a slow search for what seems just right. I'd like to seat 12 comfortably and that might be a 6' square or a really long rectangle. I'm hoping a local consignment shop might have the perfect dining room table so I have plans to start scouting then out once a week.

  1. Neutrals! I love neutrals. All the browns, blacks, whites, and inbetweens. If you forced me to pick an actual color, it'd have to be teal :)

  8. I'm game! Matte metallics are my new favorites. I've ordered loads of them in the past, but just recently started using them and I'm in love. I found some lovely new shades at Beyond Beadery in Tucson, and I just love the way they go with those sparkly crystals!

  19. Shame you're not in Texas. An internet friend of mine has a gorgeous second hand shop in Livingston, and she posts photos of all her finds. I bet she'd have no trouble finding you that table!

As for your over abundance of seed beads, I've started using them in my pieces again, but since I don't use large amounts of the same shades and colors, restocking the exact same ones aren't a problem for me :) Odds and ends are fabulous :D

I've developed a love of matte, but can't resist sparkle or glitter, so everything is good :)I have tons of browns, whites and blues, so don't really need any more of those, but I'm sure I'd find a use for them just the same ;)Plus I host monthly giveaways on my own blog, so I have no doubt that if I win one of these batches you clear out,I'll end up passing some of them on to someone else :)

  22. Hi,
I would love some green, I don't have much. But to tell you the truth the colour doesn't matter, it would come from you, this would be the most important to me. :) I'm totally in love with your designs (I think not just me) and it would inspire me if I could use them.
    I live a bit far, I hope it's not a big a problem.
    Greetings from Hungary.

  28. Marcia, I love matte beads of all kinds. My 'go-to' bases tend to be bronze beads and I use them with all shades of purples, teals and sea greens. If I need a pop of colour I often use a chartreuse or aqua bead. Colour combinations are a challenge which is why it's so great seeing what other beaders put together.

Pinks and purples (not neon) - love
Bright and pale colours - yes, please :)
