New Books on the Horizon

Well the distant horizon.....but I did just sign a contract with Lark, publisher of Marcia DeCoster's Beaded Opulence for two new books.

The themes are 'Beads in Motion', think Rings of Saturn and other similarly designed pieces with moving parts...

And the Bead Within, think beads around beads, beads inside beads......

I have sketches of many of my intended pieces, now to turn them into reality.

I once again have committed to doing the illustrations for the two new books. I am contemplating a switch to a MAC and a switch to Adobe Illustrator. The completion of taxes will reveal the available budget and reality of the change.

Sadly our local Continuing Ed has discontinued their Illustrator classes due to budget cuts. I'm hoping to find a class at one of the community colleges to expedite the learning curve.

I've been using Illustrator from the Mac world since it first came out. If you can't find a class at a Jr College - you might check out local art schools. Have fun with Illustrator. It's a great program.

Thanks Pamm, I'm really hoping to make it work and I have an offer from a pro to help me out with the learning curve. I think between all my bead friends who use it I'll catch on quickly. I already know Corel Draw so it's just a matter of translating to the Adobe language of things.

I love inkscape. It's a vector program and it comes with great tutorials for the "drawing'. I've never used Corel Draw, but I love the professional results that I can achieve with Inkscape.

There are some free tutorials on YouTube, and loads of professional Illustrator classes which are online-only. Sadly, the latter aren't free!
