Chatelaines at it's current price is a bit beyond my reach so I'm glad I have a copy. I open it often but have yet to bead one. Yesterday I turned to a page that inspired but I couldn't quite sort out what stitch or how I'd go about creating the shapes in beads.
That is where sleep beading comes in. Apparently my brain wanted to work on the problem while I was asleep and I found myself thinking of ideas and drawing thread paths all night long. Now if I can just retain the ideas long enough to bead them that would be great! I'm sure at a minimum I should take a few notes with my ideas, copy off the the page in question and write down my stitch plans.
Do you sleep bead?
Your comment will enter you into the drawing for a copy of Marcia DeCoster Presents. The chance to enter ends this Thursday at 12:00 noon pst.

I sleep/dream beading all the time...then I wake up! Wish I could learn to take notes while I'm sleeping!
I think Romantica looks like a Chatelaine in beads.
I occasionally sleep/dream bead. Need to keep a notebook by my bed to write things down when I wake up.
Do I sleep bead....I guess I must do as I have been known to find beads in my bed...but that is a whole other story. ;-)
Sure do. I love the sleep computer. Put in the elements and out pops the solution in the morning.
I can barely awake bead.
I can barely awake bead.
I rarely dream bead.
Looks like a great book! I dream about beads often!
I used to bead in my sleep regularly. However, once I went back to school my dreams revolved more around schoolwork and exams. I graduate with my MSW in April, so maybe beading will show up in my dreams again!
Constantly. I can't tell you how many times I wake up and need to go put beads together for a new plan, or do a quick sketch. And as you said - it's good to 'sleep on it' to resolve those bead-fuddling issues too!
I sleep bead once in a while. And when I do, it's amazing! I just wish I would remember to write the ideas down.
No sleep beading for me!
I love chatelaines - have a board full of them on Pinterest!
Oh yes, I'm mad enough to do ;-) Must be a contagious illness!
Greetings,
Nicole
I do sometimes. Usually I work on patterns I am currently beading.
I sometimes get an solution for a Beading problem after I sleep on it.
I have been beading in my sleep since the early 90's. whenever there is a problem, my dreams usually work it out for me by morning.
Not so much sleep bead as solve thread path problems. Been known to go to bed with a vexing problem, only to wake up with knowing exactly what to do!
The Chatelaines book looks amazing - Your blog is always a source of interesting and lovely jewelry inspiration. And now I'm off to the coast to look for further artistic inspiration ...
It seems the only time I sleep bead is will my kit be here tomorrow? :)
i hope to see your ideas in stitches!
I used to work in IT before I was a manager and had a huge problem..but I resolved it in my dream!!!! It was amazing!!! I actually think through quilting/beading projects which end up putting me to sleep!! Gotta love our brains!
I quite often dream about bead designs. Not that I can actually bead that well, but I am trying to educate myself with various books, you tube and magazines. I would love to be clever enough to venture into some of Marcia's beautiful designs.
I've also seen knitted chatelaines.
I don't usually sleep dream beading. I do find that if I am stuck and I walk away for a bit or work on something else that the ideas flow better than if I try to force them.
I consider you lucky. I haven't remembered a dream in years and years. Hope to see you in Tucson.
Pamela
I don't sleep bead but I do "wake" bead. If I wake in he middle of the night I start designing - bad for sleep and great for my beading.
While I was waiting for beads to arrive for a project, the details of how I would put its 4 parts together improved over half a dozen times, mostly during nightly sleep breaks or while showering. My room houses my bed and my computer, so I could make notes immediately.
