Change?

Recently I've been considering changing my hair, which means growing it longer since it's been short for many years, and I'm craving change (which probably requires contemplation, but for now I'm just going with it). I used to change jobs, change men (that was a looooong time ago) or change residences.

But now I love all three, my job, my man, my home. Change needs to come from other sources....Now don't look for this to be a definite thing, I'm reasonably fickle and I'm not sure I can manage the awful stage that is inevitable, but I'm giving it thought at least, and while cleaning out a space in the studio today, look what I found!

Me with long hair, considerably younger of course....

This was most likely an annual Christmas party since we never went for formal pictures otherwise.

and I found other pictures, and I was reminded that we kissed,

a lot....and that there was a day that I wore dainty pearl earrings and Mark's beard was not white.

LOL! Marcia, two years ago I too went through a period where I wanted a change too. I had had red hair for 20 years, and one day I came downstairs looked at my DH & he gasped "what did you do?" Okay, so I just made it brown again, but still it was a shock. People don't recognize me which can be a good thing! LOL! Plus remember, it ALWAYS grows back...

That "in-between" stage between short hair and long - or even medium stage is a killer and part of the reason that my hair hasn't hit my shoulders since 1986. Good luck!!

Marcia, I like it! I say go for it. You can always cut and run if necessary, but I think it's worth exploring.

I say go for it! What can it hurt. I loved the pics of you and your DH. What nice memories they invoke.

I've worn my hair short most of my adult life. And growing it out is tough because of that dreaded in- between stage.
But I'm actually trying it now. I will probably hate it because I have frizzy curly hair, but I'm going to hang in there.
You can always cut it off, right?

That is odd, it must be something in the air. I'm contemplating leaving the rat race and buying a boat and just sailing away. Changing men, well yeah, the thought has crossed my mind when socks throwing is like an Olympic Sport in my house. Being Dutch I have what we call melkboerenhondehaar, if you ever came accross that word. It has to be kept very long or I am A La Afro, not a good look. Maybe it is that restlessness when a book is finished and that is like giving birth, and one drums ones fingers on the table - What Next, What Now, Where Do I Go From Here? I agree with Arlene, longer hair suits you, but it is more maintenance no?

I love going through your blog...starting with the newest entry and clicking on the thumbnails below that entry ("You might be interested in...). I am. It´s like gettting to know you without knowing you.

Whenever I read an entry talking about your husband, I think...Marcia is blessed. He must be a great man and a great source of support. I just need to imagine him trying to master RAW so you can observe a non-beader working with your instructions. I was really impressed when I read that in your book. Cool guy.

Thanks again for your blog entries. They are all worthwile to read (even if they are a bit older and I´m just finding them).
